Ray Ranney began his musical adventures as a drummer in the early eighties, pounding away with the headphones on to his favorite band, Def Leppard. Along the way he found himself in a number of different bands with varying roles as drummer, lead singer and bass player. He found his home with the bass in the early nineties, and has never looked back. His most recent project was with the Kiss tribute band Rock n Roll All Nite. The closing of that chapter brought with it the inspiration to form a tribute to the band he dreamed about playing in as a little kid. The timing was perfect! He found others who shared in the same passion for his idea, and Def Repplica was born.

His musical influences range from Pop to Heavy Metal, and as Ray says, "Put it to you this way...it would not be uncommon to find Def Leppard, Neil Diamond, Prince, Journey and Kiss all together in my CD changer at the same time." Rekindling old friendships and making new ones are centered on his love for creating this tribute to Def Leppard. He sites "Sav" as the major reason he picked up the bass and left the drums behind.
